Property Description

The Property

Originally built in the 1870's as a Primitive Methodist chapel, The Old Chapel is a stunning brick and flint converted one bedroom property on the outskirts of the popular village of Hindolveston, a short drive from the market town of Holt and the North Norfolk coast.

The property creates a wonderful sense of space and light with high vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and large windows.  The accommodation briefly comprises a fabulous open plan living space on the ground floor, including a sitting room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom, with a spiral staircase leading up to a mezzanine bedroom above.

The front door leads into the entrance hall, with two cupboards to the right, one of which is used for storage and the other has plumbing and space for a washing machine and tumble dryer. This leads into the impressive sitting and dining room, which is flooded with light from windows on each side, has high vaulted ceilings and trusses, wooden floorboards, an exposed brick fireplace, and a woodburning stove. There is enough space for a big dining table and cosy furnishings. The kitchen, located off one side of the living area, has a window facing the front and side, wooden cabinets on the top and bottom, a built-in dishwasher, integrated under counter fridge and freezer and a fan-assisted oven with an extractor hob above.  On the opposite side is the bathroom, which has a walk-in shower, a hand wash station, a loo and windows to the front and side. The mezzanine bedroom above, which has a stunning stained glass window and a ground floor view, is accessed via the impressive spiral staircase.

The Outside

There is enough space for two cars on the gravel drive at the front.  A lovely garden with trees, shrubs, a wildlife pond and views of the fields can be reached by a garden gate to the side and is ideal for outdoor dining during the warmer months, enjoying the sounds of nature and the peace of the countryside. There is also a brick barbecue at the rear of the garden and a useful shed for storage.

The Location

Hindolveston is a small, friendly village, situated between the popular market towns of Holt and Fakenham. The village hall hosts many clubs and crafts, as well as bowls and a Friday night bar. Cinema nights are held during the winter months, and there's also a self-service farm shop within the village. The Recreational Ground offers a large open space for general sports such as football or cricket, a children's play area and The Millennium Pavilion, which opened in 2000 and frequently hosts the Parish Council and is also available for private hire. The church of St George the Martyr was built in 1932 after the original church fell down in 1892.

The nearest railway station is Sheringham for the Bittern Line, which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich and the nearest airport is Norwich International Airport.

Hindolveston is just 8 miles south of the beautiful Georgian town of Holt, where you can find a fantastic selection of quality independent retailers, traditional butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, bakers, cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs. Holt is also home to the famous Bakers & Larners department store, a doctors surgery, Holt Primary School and Gresham's, a prominent independent school, founded in 1555. The town has a thriving local community and is very popular with visitors to the area, many of whom support great local events throughout the year, such as markets on the first Sunday of each month from April - October, the Holt Festival in the summer and the Christmas Lights switch on in the winter.
